Think we got something wrong about you or your company?
This page is for anyone named in a profile or postmortem, not just Venture Trail account holders.
What this page is for
Every profile and postmortem on Venture Trail is written from cited sources and reviewed before publication, but sources are sometimes wrong, incomplete, or out of date. If something about you or your company is inaccurate, outdated, or missing important context, we want to know and we want to fix it. You don't need an account to raise this, and you don't need to be the subject of the profile yourself - anyone with firsthand knowledge can flag it.
How to request a correction
Use our correction form - it's tracked and reviewed by a person, not just a mailbox. You'll need a free account to submit one, so we can follow up with you. If you'd rather not create an account, reach us through Contact instead. Either way, tell us:
- Which profile or postmortem, and which specific claim is wrong.
- What you believe the correct information is.
- A source or basis for the correction where you can provide one - a document, a public record, or your own firsthand account.
What happens next
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within 3 business days and resolve most within 10. If we agree a claim is wrong, we correct it and note that the profile was updated. If a claim is sourced and accurate as reported but you dispute the interpretation or feel it lacks context, we'll typically add your response alongside it rather than remove sourced content outright - see "Right of reply" below. If we disagree that a correction is warranted, we'll tell you why.
Right of reply
If you're the founder or a representative of a company we've written about and you disagree with our characterization even though the underlying facts are sourced and accurate, you can submit a short response for us to publish alongside that profile. Our postmortems reflect what's documented in the sources we cite as of the date we cite them - they're our analysis of the public record, not a verified account from the company itself, and a right-of-reply note is the fastest way to get your side attached to it.
Before pursuing legal action
If you're considering a legal claim over something published on Venture Trail, please use this process first. Most disputes are a source disagreement or missing context that we can resolve directly and faster than any other channel - see our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for how the archive is sourced and governed.
